Welcome to 'Between 2 Speakers', where we send out truth-seeking laser-beam questions to musicians, artists and DJ's to find out what makes them tick while at the decks and when away.
With our label event only a few weeks away we are getting the hard facts from all the artists appearing at Prism London. Today we welcome Furthur Progressions label founder and MixMag's 2006 sexiest man - Bedders.
Having been involved with psy trance events since 1999 when he first landed in London, Bedders aka Mark Bedford was drawn to the progressive and morning styles of psychedelic trance. As a keen collector of the music he discovered the great minimal psychedelic progressive trance sound coming out of Scandanavia, Israel, Switzerland and Germany.
From this period he has experienced playing to some mind blowing dancefloors, with Universo Paralello, Boom Festival, Hadra Festival, Glade all at the top of his list, alongside amazing UK parties from the likes of Liquid, Wildthings, Chrysalid, Acid Monkey and Omniscience!
Welcome to Between 2 Speakers. First up, tell us who you are and where are you from?
I’m Bedders! From Brixton, London.
Describe your music in 5 words or less.
Infectious Tek prog with substance.
Who or what inspires you musically?
Music that has sincerity, soul and thoughtfulness. There is too much out there that just feels like it is thrown together for the sake of it. Nothing beats finding a track that hits you straight away and then discovering there are no nasty surprises in that track! Less jazz hands please!
Artists like MVMB, Allaby, James Monro and flip-flop within the psychedelic scene and countless artists within progressive house and techno
You can choose any one superhuman power. What is it? (Not including ‘the power to have all the powers’)
The Power to create more time.
Favourite thing to do away from music?
Spend time with my son playing and making him laugh (he tells me I’m an idiot most times).
And finally….what can we expect from you on 23rd March?
I’ll be opening up the Furthur room for the first couple of hours! I’ll work through some big progressive house with trancey influences, big techno with that psychedelic influence and then lead in to the next act with some tek trance. Get there early and you may catch me dancing terribly
Thank you Bedders!
Bedders is appearing at Prism London on 23rd March. Tickets and info available via Resident Advisor, Access All Areas and Event Brite.
