Between 2 Speakers with Sam Strutt

Updated: Mar 12, 2019

Introducing 'Between 2 Speakers', where we ask the important questions to musicians, artists and DJ's to find out what makes them tick while at the decks and when away.

With our label event only a few weeks away we are getting the hard facts from all the artists appearing at Prism London. First up and appearing at The Prism Bar... Sam Strutt.

From the heights of Suffolk, Sam Strutt is known for his consistent delivery of strictly mind boggling techno steamers. Layered with clicks, acid driven rolling basslines, and a big dollop of progressive psychedelia - expect strictly bangers, no mash.

Bring ear protection, prepare for solid techno corkers, and make sure to wear your hazmat suit.

Welcome to Between 2 Speakers Sam. First up, tell us who you are and where are you from?

I’m Sam, I hail from Manningtree - which is luckily not quite Essex.

Describe your music in 5 words or less.

Progressive, bouncy, clicky, and unique

Who or what inspires you musically?

Initially, the groove and roll of Memphis Blues inspired rock - think Dire Straits, Zeppelin, and Floyd, Now, Old school analogue techno and electronica - think early to mid/late 2000s.

Basically I love the type of electronic music that is driven by bouncy basslines and electrifying melodies.

You can choose any one superhuman power. What is it? (Not including ‘the power to have all the powers’)

You know when you wake up at 5am, and really need to go to the loo - to give that need to somebody else, and go straight back to sleep. That would be ace. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t be tempted by that power?

Favourite thing to do away from music?

Eat strong cheese and do badass shit.

And finally….what can we expect from you on 23rd March?

Looking to bring a type of sound focused on progression and stretching a soundscape to fill every corner of that room. Will keep people grooving right to the end.

Thank you Sam!

Sam Strutt is appearing at Prism London on 23rd March. Tickets and info available via Resident Advisor, Access All Areas and Event Brite.
