Welcome to 'Between 2 Speakers', where we send out truth-seeking laser-beam questions to musicians, artists and DJ's to find out what makes them tick while at the decks and when away.
With our label event only a few weeks away we are getting the hard facts from all the artists appearing at Prism London. Today we welcome label artist and event headliner Cimi.
MarcHello started dj’ing as soon as he arrived in London from Italy at the end of the Nineties and quickly became involved in the underground party scene. A label DJ for Etnicanet Records until 2004, he then moved to Neurobiotic and Free-Spirit Records while also acting as an event promoter, co-founder of the legendary Fairy Tales parties.
His passion for digital production eventually gave birth to CIMI, a crossover project between full-on and progressive psytrance inspired by festival dancefloor experiences.
Welcome to Between 2 Speakers. First up, tell us who you are and where are you from?
Eeeh, you talking to me?! I'm Marcello aka Cimi & M-Theory, 100% Italian but living in London since 1997.
Describe your music in 5 words or less.
Deep, driving, psychedelic, progressive.
Who or what inspires you musically?
I tend not to worship an artist in particular and get bits of inspiration from many. I like to listen to different styles of music until something really catches my attention and might give me the goose bumps. I then try to recreate those similar emotions and feelings in my tracks.
You can choose any one superhuman power. What is it? (Not including ‘the power to have all the powers’)
I wish I had the power of teleportation and being able to jump from one place to another in the glimpse of an eye. Imagine how many hours I could save to make more music!
Favourite thing to do away from music?
I love cooking for people and taking long walks in the woods. I also love travelling, especially to far-away countries with outstanding natural beauty.
And finally….what can we expect from you on 23rd March?
I’m planning a set that grows in intensity throughout the hour. I’ve got many new tracks to play so, expect the unexpected!
Thank you Cimi.
