Between 2 Speakers with Multiphase

Welcome to 'Between 2 Speakers', where we ask the important questions to musicians, artists and DJ's to find out what makes them tick while at the decks and when away.

With our label event only a few weeks away we are getting the hard facts from all the artists appearing at Prism London. Today we welcome label artist and event headliner Multiphase.

Multiphase is the project of Danish producer Jannick Anderson. As DJ Pr0fane he began playing progressive psychedelic music in the early 2000’s, heavily influenced by the burgeoning electronic music scene in Denmark and Europe. Taking influences from the progressive, techno and house genres that he loved to play the Multiphase project was born.

With a sequence of hit releases on labels such as Furthur Progressions, Iboga & Iono he has become one of the top producers in the scene with a live set that enriches parties and festivals worldwide!

Welcome to Between 2 Speakers. First up, tell us who you are and where are you from?

Jannick (now also Schøler) Andersen. I'm a guy from Denmark who probably should be too old dancing to loud trance-music in dark rooms, but can't really stop since I've practically been doing it for as long as I can remember, and haven't found anything quite like it.

Describe your music in 5 words or less.

Atmospheric. Melodic.

Who or what inspires you musically?

In the trance-scene Protonica (who is also playing on the 23rd) has actually been one of my bigger influences from the progressive psytrance in the past 10 or so years. Alongside of course guys like Ticon, Liquid Soul, Ace Ventura Phaxe, Morten Granau etc.. Apart from that I'm also very inspired by "trancy" techno and house, such as Stephan Bodzin, Einmusik, Sasha, Sebastian Mullaert, Joel Mull, the label Parabel and many more.

You can choose any one superhuman power. What is it? (Not including ‘the power to have all the powers’)

The ability to stop time, so I could have more than 24 hours in a day. Having a kid, a full time job and a passion like making music is serious business.

Favourite thing to do away from music?

Walking/running in nature. Preferably with my son.

And finally….what can we expect from you on 23rd March?

Expect a set where I'll try to play my absolute best tracks from 10 or so years producing. I've had some long nights in the studio lately, and will be testing some brand new tracks at the party - working on them as we speak!

Thank you Jannick.

Multiphase is appearing at Prism London on 23rd March. Tickets and info available via Resident Advisor, Access All Areas and Event Brite.
